REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

1. An NFC-enabled Android phone (running Android 6 or later).
2. An email address.
3. One of the following government-issued photo IDs linked to your address:
   • Driver’s licence
   • Photo ID card
   • Services card
4. You must be physically near the address associated with your photo ID when registering.
5. Recommended: A passport to enhance your Identity Assurance Level (IAL) and improve your chances of passing identity verification. A higher IAL increases the trustworthiness of your digital identity across various services.

eID-Me is a secure digital identity application designed to digitize and store government-issued and self-managed identity information securely on your Android device.

This application streamlines online identity verification by eliminating the need for passwords and enhancing privacy measures. However, it should be noted that eID-Me is not intended as a legal form of identification. HOW IT WORKS

During the registration process, users confirm their identity by taking a selfie with a liveness check and scanning their government-issued photo ID documents (such as a driver’s licence or passport). Following this verification, a unique eID-Me digital identity is generated for your Android device, complete with a digital certificate containing verified identity claims.

This digital identity allows seamless access to various services and secure sharing of identity information during both online and in-person transactions.

PRIVACY AND SECURITY

Your identity information remains solely accessible on your Android device and is not stored by any centralized service or third-party provider. After verification, a secure certificate is placed on your device, ensuring that only you can access this information until you choose to share it in an identity transaction.

The eID-Me digital wallet is safeguarded with robust encryption that employs hardware security features of the Android phone and is linked to your chosen authentication method (e.g., Face Unlock, Fingerprint Unlock, PIN).
